You don’t need to figure it all out on your own.
Being a young adult in today's world is draining. It seems like you have it 'all together’ on the outside but on the inside, you feel completely overwhelmed & lost.
Maybe you’re feeling pressure to hit certain life milestones, or you’re anxious about your future career? Maybe you’ve been feeling isolated cause all of your friends are doing their own thing these days? You’re going through the daily motions but feel drained, unfulfilled, and tired of having to juggle it all. You’re ready for some relief and direction.
What’s it like to work with me?
My clients usually describe me as a therapist who remembers the small details, enjoys a good laugh, and provides a safe and comfortable environment.
I work through a trauma-informed lens and use different styles of therapy to fit your unique needs and personality. I also keep sessions casual & conversational to help make that tough stuff easier to talk about.
At our first session, I’ll ask about your perspective on the challenges you’re facing and what goals you’d like to achieve in therapy. We’ll talk about various ways to help reach your goals and work collaboratively to come up with a plan together before we get started (you know yourself best!).
I get how hard it is to ask for help.
I’ve sat in the other seat in therapy sessions and understand the importance of a non-judgmental and compassionate listening ear.
Starting in my early teens, I also struggled with several forms of anxiety that I buried and didn’t talk about with others because of fear of judgment. Once I moved past this fear, started processing my anxiety and talking to others with similar struggles, I was able to grow in ways I never thought possible.
This sparked my passion for supporting others through their mental health journey and becoming an advocate for eliminating the stigma associated with seeking help.
A little more personal.
I love anything sports related and am, with a heavy heart, a life-long Toronto Maple Leafs supporter. I’m more likely to attend an event if snacks are included- especially dips- my dog is my very best friend, and I’m a sucker for all things reality TV.
I have a Dutch background, which has shown me the value in chocolate sprinkles on toast and a side of apple sauce with almost anything.
I learned about social work in the 10th grade on career day and have known ever since that this was the career path for me. Since then I have worked in many different settings including a youth corrections facility, hospital, a women and family shelter, and in several community mental health and addiction settings.
